Garbaruk GEN2.0 is the result of extensive R&D carried out through 2025 - our biggest update that pushed our cassettes to the next level. The improvements are so significant that we felt this new generation deserved its own name.
What started as an attempt to improve on the existing feedback on our cassettes led to a complete rework for the new models.
The result is GEN2.0, a cassette that:
Shifts perfectly even with imperfect setup
Our redesigned shift ramps and improved tooth shaping make indexing less sensitive. In testing with AXS derailleurs, GEN2.0 still shifted smoothly even when we intentionally went two clicks away from perfect indexing in either direction.
Keeps the chain locked in place, even when backpedaling
New profiling on the largest sprockets ensures better chain retention, also during back pedalling
Runs quieter than ever before
The teeth of the cassette work smoother with the chain to reduce noise level
Ready for e-bikes and high-torque drivetrains

Changes and Improvements Breakdown

New Upshift & Downshift Ramps
Redesigned ramps with repositioned entry points ensure faster, more predictable up- and downshifts, even under high torque.

Completely Redesigned Tooth Profiles
Updated shaping improves chain engagement, resulting in smoother and more consistent shifting under load.

Noise-Optimized Chamfers
Strategically placed micro-chamfers on the teeth reduce chain contact friction, improving running smoothness and lowering overall drivetrain noise.

Additional Mud-Exit Pathways
More open spaces between teeth allow mud and grit to escape faster, preventing chain skip and maintaining shifting accuracy.

New & Redesigned Chamfers for Mud Removal
Optimized chamfer geometry clears mud and debris more efficiently, keeping shifting precise even in wet and gritty conditions.
How We Developed GEN2.0:
A couple tweaks that Became a Complete Redesign
GEN2.0 began as an attempt to make a few small improvements - slightly smoother shifting, a little more consistency. But every small change affected something else, and one tweak led to another. What started as a minor update turned into a complete redesign. The only thing left from previous Garbaruk cassettes is the hardened steel monoblock with a single aluminum sprocket - the best balance between weight and durability, in our view. Everything else, from tooth profiles to ramps, is entirely new.
